St Patrick’s Studios is a group of artists working within the Old School building of St Patrick’s RC Parish, Wapping. A space for mutual spiritual and creative support, the project takes inspiration from Pope John Paul II’s 1999 Letter to Artists, to put their creativity in ‘service of their neighbour and of humanity as a whole’.
Alongside my studio practice, I co~curated a series of exhibitions and events with local organisations, including Hurtado Refugee Centre, Wapping Open Studios and Husk Creative Space, as well as several historic churches with connections to St Patrick’s.
Wapping Open Studios
Part of the wider Wapping Open Studios, I coordinated the first St Patrick's Open Studios exhibition with neighbours the Hurtado Refugee Centre in 2016. Working with a team of artists and volunteers, we transformed the space into a pop~up gallery showcasing artwork made in the studios, with an opening event to raise funds for the Jesuit Refugee Services.
Resurrection Exhibition
Hosted by the Hurtado Refugee Centre, I co~curated Resurrection (2017) with a team from St Patrick’s Studios, exhibiting works by over 30 artists including Francis Hoyland, Marcia Scott, Andrew White and Hackney Mosaic Project. The exhibition toured subsequent venues, Farm Street Church, Mayfair and the Servite Church, Chelsea, taking different forms in response to new sacred spaces.
