Fragments (2016~) is a body of exploratory works meditating on ideas of the discarded, the remnant, and the space~between breakage and repair. Forming a loose, evolving collection, this thematic fascination was epitomised by my solo~exhibition, Shards and Seams in 2018.
Fragments Series
Yellow Fragments (2018) was a series created for Yellow at Espacio Gallery, Bethnal Green. With interplay of micro and macro, object and installation, the work comprised a large~scale window intervention alongside a small~scale resin triptych, created through the same method of fragmentation ~ a process repeated throughout this body of work.
Unfolded Series
Unfolded (2017~) is a series of works made through a process of folding, un~folding, fragmenting and re~joining origami paper sculptures. When exhibited, the reconfigured works are displayed with their former origami ‘shadow’, hidden above or below the eye line.
Stains and Stitches
Stains and Stitches (2016~) is an ongoing meditation on forms of remembering, healing and collaborative re~creation. This body of works includes Re~formations (2018), a series of objects and interventions made from 'left remains’ found during a residency at Husk Creative Space.
Sacred and Everyday
Sacred and Everyday (2017~18) includes discarded and commissioned objects re~created for worship, meditation and everyday use ~ from a baptism bowl for an Anglican church, to a set of cups and plates for a community café.
Gift Triptych (Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh) (2017) reflects on material, symbol and story, deconstructing the traditional religious triptych.
